CZMP Issue Re: Woods property - Mr. Michael Tanczyn provided the membership with an overview of the Woods' family's pending CZMP request for a change of zoning from DR 5.5 to RO or ROA. The basis for the request seems to be that their property on Maiden Choice Lane is a "buffer" property between the commercial area to the west, and the balance of the residential neighborhood to the east. Mr. Tanczyn discussed a number of professional service type businesses in which he and members of his immediate family would like to engage, including accountancy, law, and financial planning. Mr. Tanczyn provided us with photographs and plat records in support of the Woods' request. After a review of the information provided and after communications with residents of the affected street, GACA has decided to oppose the request for RO or ROA and asks that the Planning Board abide by the recommendation of the Planning Office and maintain the property at its present DR status.
Census 2000 - Kay Keller, Office of Community Conservation, and Richard Spittel, Census 2000 employee, offered information on the Census. As we have described on our web site and in our mailings, portions of the Southwest area were significantly undercounted in the 1990 census, resulting in a loss of millions of dollars in Federal funds. The County is making a major effort to ensure that all members of the community are counted. To that end, help in completing the Census will be available at Arbutus Public Library.
Local enviornmental issues - Cheri Abramovitz, Sanitarian, Bureau of Waste Management discussed rodent control issues and announced a hazardous waste clean up to be held on Saturday, April 29, 2000 at the Western Acceptance Facility in Halethorpe.
