Farmers and Vendors
Besides selling fresh, high-quality produce, the vendors at the Arbutus Farmers Market are happy to share their expertise about how to handle, store, and prepare what you purchase. When you buy something from one of the vendors, feel free to ask them questions. They can tell you how it should be stored and the best ways to clean and cook it. They can even tell you how long it is likely to stay at the peak of freshness. Don’t forget to check out the “recipes” section on our website where we feature recipes using in-season produce from the market.
If you see a fruit or produce you do not recognize, ask about it! Many new and exotic vegetables and fruits are now available. The farmers and produce vendors with new and unique foods can explain what they are, how they taste, and how to prepare them.
The Arbutus Farmers Market vendors can also help you plan your menu around the market report. They know what is coming into season so you can know what to look for during your next visit.
Remember: There are often last minute changes on the farm - it’s the nature of farming so the mix of produce will vary with the weather.
